A day care center will provide care for children of all ages. Infants will need the most hands on care, while school aged children will only need to be looked after before and after school, as well as during the summer when school is out. Throughout the years, day care centers have started to bring more education to the child's day by teaching different types of programs, such as arts and crafts, to help the cognitive development of the child. Teaching toddlers their ABC's, numbers, and words will be the main goal, while infants will learn how to crawl, walk, and socialize with others.
Each day care facility will have their workers continue their education by taking courses in how to work with children. They will be required to know CPR and first aid. A background check will be done on all workers. The director of the center must to have the day care meet requirements and be licensed by the state. Every year the facility will be inspected to ensure that the children are safe and well taken care of.
Morning drop off times will vary. While snacks will be provided, meals may have to be brought from home. Parents can ask to see examples of projects the kids will be instructed to do during the day to get an idea on how their child is interacting and taking part in. Weather permitting, children will be given time outside to run around and have fun every day. Part time kids, such as those in kindergarten, with parents that only work part time or only need before and after school care can be given a discounted price. Day care centers will have competitive prices and will work with parents to ensure both them and their children are happy.

Then contact a few different day care centers to get information such as contact person, hours, availability, programs offered, age groups, activities and cost. Meet with the child care providers, making sure they have the proper licensing in your state or county, college degrees, training and certification. Make sue they are registered. Research the day care center's background and experience beforehand, and find out whether it is part of a local, national or international association. Some college students make a decent living from caring for children and infants from home, so look into that aspect as well. Chat with the child care and business staff to see if they are courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. Check out the cleanliness of the school as well. Ask about the various activities, fitness programs, play areas, social activities, reading areas, and other resources available for your child's age group, whether baby or preschool child. If the center is part of a church, be sure to inquire what religious aspects will be incorporated into the curriculum. Find out if the center accepts your child's age group, such as infant, baby, toddler, preschool child or older child. And don't forget to ask if the center offers weekend care, in addition to weekday care, as well as morning, afternoon and after school care. Make sure the costs and rates fit your budget as well. Inquire about day care laws and rules in your state, such as those concerning morning drop off and afternoon pick up.
